Dear Sir,

Re: The Correct Magnet and its effects.

We moved down to South West Wales in 1978 and within a very short time encountered problems with fertility in the cattle, after several tests it became obvious that the problem was a high molybdenum level in the ground that was locking up the copper. At this point we fed all types of minerals containing copper but to no avail. The level of molybdenum was so high the cattle could not absorb the copper through the gut and the only way around the problem was to place the copper straight into the cattle by means of an injection under the skin. This was done to all cattle that were required for breeding one month after calving and three weeks before bulling heifers were to be served.

On farm trials were carried out where a group of 17 cattle were not treated with copper after calving. Out of this bunch only one came on heat. When the other 16 were treated with copper they all came on heat within one month.

In spring 1999 as part of changing the farm practice to go organic we introduced magnets onto the water supply, at the same time we stopped using copper injections and any other type of mineral.

We are now some 9 months down the line since the introduction of magnets and certain things are becoming very apparent and they are:-

a) The cattle are readily coming on heat some within three days of calving.
b) All the cattle that have access to the magnetised water are looking healthier.
c) Foot problems such as foot foul and foot ulcers are very rare (they were quite common in the past).
d) Even freshly calved maiden heifers are showing signs of coming on heat three days after calving.
e) As the general health of the herd has improved so the vet bills have reduced, over £1500 in the first 9 months.

We feel that although these things are very hard to quantify, we are positive the introduction of magnets has significantly improved the health of the cattle and by doing this it has significantly improved our bank balance.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Newman
